MODELING TIPS
Prepare for a
Photo Shoot
I am here to help
you and to get the best out of you during the photo shoot. So
please call me to go over the details of your photo shoot. I
will get you the pictures you want.
I will help you
pose if needed. I do it all the time and being an actor and
model myself, I know exactly how to pose you. There is no
rushing through the photo shoot if you decide to shoot with me.
Look through
magazines and catalogs and tear out pictures that you like.
Bring them along to the shoot, so I can look at them and we can
go over them.
Get plenty of
sleep the night before and give yourself enough time on the day
of the photo shoot.
If you consider
shooting some semi-nude or artistic nudes, please wear loose
clothing and no underwear for at least one hour before the photo
shoot, due to the marks you get from underwear and it takes
about an hour to get rid of them.
Be happy, relaxed
and enjoy, it will show in your photographs.
The Photo
Shoot
Be on Time!
Please bring a
large variety of outfits. I will help you choose what looks
best. Bring clothing that you feel good in and that really
reflect who you are. Bring a mix of sporty, casual, sexy and
professional clothes.
You can either do
your own hair and make up, or if you want it to be done by a
professional, you could bring your own or I will recommend a
make-up artist and the extra fee will be charged directly by the
make-up person.
I want you to be
as comfortable as possible during the shoot. Therefore you may
bring your own background music or even a glass of wine, if it
helps you relax. The best pictures are the ones when people are
relaxed.
After the
Photo Shoot
You will get a
contact sheet (1 per roll of film) or a CD-ROM with your images
(if Digital photo shoot). You should look over your contact
sheet(s) or images on your CD-ROM carefully and choose one or
more pictures that you want to blow up to 8 by 10 prints.
Afterwards, you
have to bring your original 8 by 10 prints to a photo
reproduction shop that will reproduce your pictures. If you want
something to be retouched on your final prints, please tell me
before you bring them to the reproduction shop. I can retouch
your prints at an additional fee.
When you get your
Litho headshots made, order matte, unless your agency wants them
glossy. Why matte? Because most casting studios are indoors and
use tungsten light, what makes it harder to look at glossy
pictures.
Most important to
remember is to choose pictures that look like you. Ask your
friends to be honest and let them choose which ones look like
you. Casting agents need to know what you REALLY look like. If
you don’t look like your picture anymore, GET NEW ONES ASAP. Or
in case of different looks, get different headshots and tell
your agent which ones to send at that time.
You need a smiling
and non-smiling headshot (for actors) and a variety of different
looks (for modeling).
Every time you
change your appearance, you will need new pictures right away.
